What mid size truck would you buy?
We've sold our home and are down sizing. My 2016 F-150 FX4 is not going to fit in the garage of our new town home and there is no room in the drive way. So, if you had to buy a mid size truck, what would you get and why?

For me it would be the Z71 Colorado with the Duramax engine. Expensive but gets great fuel economy, decent power from the 4 banger diesel and it's fun to drive.

If the F-150 won't fit, are you sure a "mid size" truck will? I wonder because the new mid size trucks are no longer small, like the old S10 and Ranger......they're like 7/8 the size of a full size truck. You could also look into a shorter F-150 if length is the issue and you don't already have a regular cab/ short bed truck.

Am currently looking at the GMC Canyon Nightfall 4x4 for my wife. A nice mid sized truck, that still looks like a truck & they're decently priced.

I agree with the Colorado/canyon with duramax...but they're pricey.
Tacomas are nice, excellent resale........but man are they slow. either geared poorly or underpowered or you have to drive around with the ECT Power button pressed in all the time to accelerate anything but slowly.

Do you care about new vs old because (flame suit on) a 1st generation Tacoma is super reliable can be had for cheap with low miles. If not that then def a Colorado...until the day the ranger comes out then I wouldn't look at anything else. I'll always stay ford if possible.

I was seriously considering a Colorado Z71 before getting my F-150. The ride and features were quite nice and pricing was OK. But I was hoping for better fuel economy from them on the gas engines and that just didn't pan out. The Duramax would be the way to go if fuel economy is important.

I'd get a 2015 or so Tacoma, before the new model. I had a 2009 that was awesome for 140,000 miles. By 2015 the model was essentially 10 years old, so all the kinks were worked out. The 4.0 and 5 speed auto were a great combo for me in a midsize truck. The 2016+ with the new 3.5 engine is not very well received in the Tacoma world.

I wouldn't have purchased a house where I couldn't keep my truck.

While I like the Tacoma and Colorado Trail Edition, I think I'd have to go with a Nissan Frontier with a 6-speed manual transmission simply because I owned an Xterra for 8 years problem-free, and it's the same chassis, engine and transmission. Sold it with 240k on the clock and only replaced the clutch once at ~200k, the passenger front hub and the radiator because of a rock puncture on the highway.
