Angry What a Joke

Hello All,

So, just got off the phone with the dealership....wanted to make an appointment for a service and the frozen latch recall on my 2017 SC. Thought I could get this issue taken care of before winter weather sets in....I was wrong. During my conversation with the associate, I was asked if the problem exists at this time....I said no, but it occurred last winter, in which I called your store and was told the parts are not available at this point. How in the hell can you put out a recall, and don't have the parts to fix it? Anyway, The associate said nothing can be done until the problem occurs again, so the dealership had evidence to give to the warranty company.....it doesn't say that in the letter I received last November. It says when the parts are available, I would be notified, so I can make an appointment. I was never notified by the way, so I have to wait.....and most likely the issue will resurface during a snowstorm.....and the store will be closed. Or the door will fly open on an interstate highway....which will not be good. With the amount of recalls being announced, and the dealer unwilling to make it right, I will think twice about buying another Ford Truck.....I'll contact corporate on Monday to see if they can make it right.

Sounds like a dealer issue. My dealer actually volunteered to also do the latch work, while in for the seatbelt recall.

I took my 2017 to my local Lincoln dealer, much nicer. Call first so they can get parts.

https://www.ford.com/help/contact/

scroll down, the phone numbers are listed. That dealer will not like getting a call from Ford CSR, but will light a fire under them for not fixing a recall.

If your dealer really told you that you actually have to have an active problem to do this recall, then the guy you talked to is an idiot.

I had mine done, no questions asked, here in Las Vegas. I just made an appointment and they did it.

The only places less likely to have a door lock freezing are Florida and Hawaii, I can't remember the last time I was in snow or ice, LOL, certainly never with this truck.

I use my local Lincoln dealer too. They are much better than the local Ford dealers. Heck, they told me that I had the door latch recall (I already knew) and asked if I’d like them to order the parts. I said yes and they called me in less than 2 weeks to say the parts were in and we set up a time to have them installed.

I’ll never use a Ford dealer for my service or warranty issues again...Lincoln dealers can do it all and are much nicer.

FWIW, as a service writer, there should be an "OASIS" report pulled up on EVERY FORD vehicle that comes through the door.

On that report, will be your VIN, and other important information.

A good service writer should see the recall, listed, and notify the parts dept., confirm the availability of needed parts, and set you up an appointment RIGHT THEN AND THERE !!! And, I say 99.9% of what that writer told you is inaccurate !!! We do them door latch recalls as they call in. The parts dept., may have to order them, BUT, that is "1" recall the parts are availabe for !!! So are the steering wheel bolt recall parts. So is the needed product to fix the front seat belt pretensioner recall !!!

P.S. As previously stated, NOT FORDS fault that your dealership hired an idiot, ..................................... Just sayin"

Excuse me. I live 5 hours south of you in Arizona. If I remotely think it's going to be freezing rain, I just stay home, or drive around it.

I think the OP'S dealer is selective in the warranty work being done. Or like some dealerships, the warranty work takes a back seat to non warranty work that pays more.

I am in Florida and they fixed in for me in June.
Find a different dealer.
