Default What is Ford thinking?

Bought a 2019 Ford Lariat, 4wd,502a. Main reason is I wanted max tow, leather seats, blis, push button start and the easy access w/o keys,

The other things included (example: the forward crash avoidance w/AEB) are nice to have....but, if people would drive vs play on the phone, read books, have sex, etc that function would be a waste.

But, come on....are people so lazy they can't turn off/on their high beams, wipers when raining, or so overweight the driver seat needs to push back and the steering column raise so they can exit the vehicle.

The high beam thing just gets me....who thought of that?

Auto high beams have been in some Ford’s since at least the 80’s. It’s not new.

Go drive out in the country on dark rural highays for long drives, then come back and you will find you really appreciate it.

I cant stand the auto high-beam either and I turn it off every evening I'm driving it. I swear I turned it off in the user menu, but it has turned itself on while driving in town a few times, so I turn it off manually every time my headlights are on.

Wow. I guess that I'm just lucky. My truck don't do all that stuff. My lights do come on with the wipers.

If you had osteoarthritis you might appreciate a little extra room for entry and egress. Weight is not the only reason.

From your point of view, we should have to push a different foot pedal for each transmission gear and manually advance engine timing from a lever on the steering wheel.

I never had auto highbeams myself but can see how they would come in handy on those dark twisty country roads. But then I remember When the highbeam switch was a button on the floor and very easy to use when zipping along those roads at night.

Ford's thinking they have a lot customers like me. I love this stuff. Can I live without it? Sure but I enjoy and use all the tech.

It's useful. Believe it or not, sometimes people forget their high beams are on when a car approaches them or merges in front of them. Sometimes computers can react faster to a car coming around a corner and turn the brights off faster than a person can. Sometimes it's nice to keep both hands on the wheel to, you know, drive the vehicle, instead of having to move one to turn the brights on and off. If it bothers you it's pretty easy to disable, I mean, if you really want to spend more time and attention taking your hands off the wheel to fiddle with lights and wipers and other tedious things instead of just driving like you should be...

Sometimes easy entry and exit isn't about being overweight either. For example I have a herniated lumbar disc and have been essentially crippled at times, lots of space to get in and out of the car would have been nice those days. Or when my one ankle was broken. Stuff happens. Things you don't find useful, other people do.

Get over it
