What do I do with the key?
I have the Ford hard bed cover on mine and it locks with the spare key. My key has a small hole in it so I put one of those little LED key ring flashlights on it and keep in it the driver's door handle cubby. The cubby is deep enough that if you didn't know anything was in it, you would never see it or even be aware it was there. When I need to unlock the bed cover, I just reach down there and grab the flashlight. I know the key also locks the clove box and the center console, but I have never needed to do that since having the truck.

LOL don't take it too personally. I mean after all buddy here was just telling us Ford should put power locks on the glove box like on his Beemer MOTORCYCLE. Yeah I bet he has a lot of doors to lock on that thing...
They extra metal key they give you is the same one found inside the smart key fob. Ford shouldve just given us the switchblade keyfobs with smart key technology instead of designing a new fob you have to take apart to get to the physical key blade. But at least they fixed that issue with the new style keyfob where the phsyical keyblade slides out the bottom.
In the case for us 2018+ owners, that key makes no sense. It's the same key 2017 and prior fobs have inside, which could replace a lost key for them. But for us, it has no use IMO, since it makes no sense to leave it inside the truck. And our fobs have a physical key as well, but different. Mine is sitting in a safe, along with all other spare fobs and keys.
