I asked my sales lady about that on my truck and she said it was the microphone for sync and the phone.

I was just quoting what she said. It does look like a bad spot for a mic to me, I thought it would be in the center overhead.

As stated, that's the intake from your HVAC module to monitor interior temperature. Not a microphone.
