That's why I would wait until the time is right to drain it. Maybe when it's not needed anymore, after winter is over.

 

Seems like the trucks are heavy enough alone.

 

I use 4 tubes of sand/anti skid in the winter giving me 280#. I have nothing but steep hills and sharp bends around here - the extra weight in the bed really helps keep the rear end planted. Also run dedicated winter tires.

It's also nice to have some anti skid along all the time - might be able to help someone out who is stuck on the ice. A little anti skid goes a long way for traction if needed.

Don't put anything because I want to have the best MPG possible. I could use extra weight sometimes, but not enough to justify having 200-300 extra pounds in the bed 24/7. People use sand bags or if you can get a nice piece of granite, that would do the job too.

You could try going to the store and buy the cheapest vodka you can find. Add it in with the water and as long as the temperature is above -15F it prevents the water from freezing completely.

 

4 Tubes of Sand, 2 bags of Sof****er rock salt, Grain Shovel & Bucket. 99% chance I won't need them but that 1% will make ya never go without it here in the Midwest (If yer smart)...Sometimes yer blocked by other stuck vehicles, I get out & help with my Shovel & Sand/Salt.

An unweighted vehicle (4X4's also) is not a fair match for serious snow/ice conditions that gobble up vehicles every year. The added weight helps keep control with grip & if ya get stuck or trapped on ice, the sand & salt is invaluable to throw under and around the tires pathway...I don't care how good you think you know how to drive yer 4X4, Mother Nature will show ya who the Boss Is!

 

3-5 tubes of sand.

 

4 patio slabs, 24" x 30" so they make a nice 4' x 5' floor to my 5.5 foot bed, fits between the wheel wells perfectly and barely notice they are there when using the bed, minutes to load or unload as necessary. Gives me 400 lbs.
