Weight in box for winter ??
Have a regular cab long bed 2 wheel drive and as a matter of fact just went to HD today and bought two 25 gallon storage boxes and bought some 50 lb bags of gravel and decorative small stones and filled the boxes with that. I have a spray in bed liner with a separate no skid mat
I put the boxes next to each wheel whell and they have about 200 pounds each in them. A side benefit is that the truck rides a little better over bumps with the extra weight in the back.
My truck is a 2019 and the front air dam is pretty low so I’m thinking about taking that off for the winter. Haven’t looked yet for any previous threads on here about the air dam so if I don’t find any I’ll start one.

I did many moons ago when I drove rwd cars and 4x2 trucks in the winter. My 4x4 truck goes fine without adding extra weight.

I do, 300 lbs of railroad bridge planks cut to fit perfectly. 7 of them about 4 feet long. Screwed together with brackets. Been doing this for years. Yesterday went through ice and snow with no problems in my RWD. But the Falken Wildpeak AT3 are snow rated.
Yes! Go to Orange box or Blue box and get bags of salt. Bags of sand, I have found, leak much more frequently. I guess if you are using plastic totes then the sand would be ok. Make a 'fence' out of 2x6 to keep them from sliding too far forward. I plow with mine and the weight is necessary to keep the back end from coming around. Good luck!
