Weathertech in track window deflectors
Greetings everyone
As I wait for the new 2018 Ford F150 XLT with the super crew to be released from the dealership (Picked it out after the recall and waiting for the dealer to repair the recall), I was looking at picking up the weathertech side window deflectors: https://www.weathertech.ca/en/ford/2...ercrewcrewcab/ but one of the parts guy mentioned that with the glass being thicker in the 2015+ series, folks have complained the windows sticking and issues with the setup.
I currently have a set on the 11 charger which has been wonderful but I thought I would ask to see if anyone here have this setup and if they experienced any issues with their 15+ models. There is the ones that you 3m tape on the outside but never liked them (that and had one fall off on the highway) so this is an option I want to avoid..
Also had a quick search through the forum and didn’t see anything posted so if anyone has any reviews, please share.
Thanks
Mike

I've got 'em on my '18, only issue is the window(s) may or may not close all the way at times depending on temps. I usually leave my windows cracked for ventilation when parked out of the garage. If i lower them too much, then the vent shades do move or drop down a bit and then interfere with the window completely closing. I just lower the window back down and ease it back up, and it will close completely. Not had 'em on during cold weather, so can't comment there.
I had the in-channel ones and I ended up removing them. It was a constant issue with the windows not being able to auto-close (have to pull and hold the switches to get them closed).
I ended up getting some AVS stick-on ones and they've been great. Before I affixed them, I made sure i cleaned the area thoroughly and then used the included alcohol wipes to make sure it has a good surface to stick onto. I've heard horror stories about the stick-on ones, but so far, it's gotten me through a whole year (with snow and heat). I would 100% recommend the stick-on ones.

I tried two different brands of in channel ones on my 16 and ended up throwing both sets away. I tried all the videos on how to install and after awhile they bounce back and won't close right. and they ended up hitting the plastic on the visor. I ordered a new 19 and I'm going with the stick on ones just not sure which ones look the best. open for suggestions.
I have the stick on ones from Ford on my 2005 Excursion Installed in 2005 when I bought it that I still own. I also installed a set on my 2004 F-150 when new that are still on. I also have them on my 2017 KR. Never had one fall off. If installed correctly they will stay own. On the ones I installed recently on my 2018 Explorer they came with adhesive enhancers (Or something like that), which is supposed to make them stick even better. The area that the visors attach to have to be cleaned and then wiped with the alcohol pads included, I keep 91% alcohol around for tasks such as this.
I have always used the Ford ones, don't know if they are the best, but I know they will fit.

I have the in channel Weathertech rain guards, with no problems what so ever. What you need to do to avoid the top of the window hitting the bottom of the guard and bouncing back is to take a dremel and add a taper to the bottom edge of the guard. Use one of the grey grinding tools and thin out the bottom edge and work your way up about an inch. It doesn't have to be razor thin at the bottom, just about half the original thickness. At the end of the inch you are at full thickness of the guard. Remember you are adding a taper.
The front ones have just one edge at the rear that you need to do. The rears have two edges, front and back.

You guys with issues are probably installing them wrong. May apply to the Weathertechs also.
