Default Wax on windshield

So I polished up my truck with basic McGuire's carnauba wax. I slopped some on my windshield, and of course I used my towel to get it off. I wiped the whole windshield with the slightly waxy towel, actually, taking the dust off. My concern is, will the slight wax film on my windshield hurt anything? Interweb has all sorts of mixed opinions, heck some people wax their windshields like it's RainX. Should I leave it, maybe wash with some Dawn in warm water? What do you think? I thought I read not to use Windex on them because the have some special coating? Thx

Won't hurt anything. I've waxed and sealed mine along with side windows and rear glass many times with no adverse effects.

Have someone spray water on it and turn on the wipers. If it gets to be a smeared mess try cleaning with straight ammonia.

As long as it's not so thick as to smear when using the wipers you should be fine. If you really want to clean it off use a dish detergent like dawn. That should strip it off. Just don't get it all over the truck, as it will strip wax off the paint too.

I do the side and back with wax, but not the front. The original poster can clean the front window with Windex and he'll be fine.

Heck, next time you choose to do a more in depth detail and use a clay bar to remove all the contaminants, run the clay bar over the windshield. You will be surprised at how much dirt, grime and crud build up on the glass. Just remember to use plenty of clay bar lubricant and only run the bar up and down or side to side, no circular motion.

I use a glass polish with special pads and my polisher to get all the grit and grime off and then use a actual glass sealant. Lasts considerably longer than just waxing.
