Default Used ABS module programming

I bought a totaled 2016 f150 lariat after getting her put back together I couldn't get my scanner to connect to the abs module, I talked with a few people that have rebuilt cars and was told they always just got used ones from the same year car and had them reflashed at the dealer. I picked one up off of Ebay for a screaming deal, hooked it all up and was able to connect with my scanner gave me a code that the vin didn't match but everything else started working as far as I could tell. Took the truck to the dealer and was told that they cannot reprogram ABS modules and that I would need to buy new. Just seeing if anyone has any experience with that and what you have done with it.

The dealership has a policy that they cannot reprogram ABS models, or they tried and cannot program your ABS module? I would suggest going to a different dealer and asking them to do a PMI (Programmable Module Installation) on your ABS module. A PMI is will reprogram the VIN and configure the module features for your specific VIN, when I worked at a Ford dealership I was able to do this many times without issue.

I wonder if forscan would do this for you. But like the guy above said - the dealer just doesn't want to .

Some are more reasonable than others. Meanwhile you can also find an independent shop that has either the IDS tool or the newer SnapOn tool. Either of those should do what you want and most independent shops will do this for you with a light fee. Might be 100 or so.
