From what I can recall, the things on the lariat that would be nice to have are the power FOLDING mirrors, auto climate, auto 4x4...cooled seats would certainly be nice, but not necessary from my point of view.

I'm in the D.C. area. 2017 XLTs for "mid to upper 30k" would be 2.7L eco with a 6 speed I think. If I go new I'm almost surely going with a 3.5eco w/ 10speed (if it's new I may as well go big or go home).

An XLT truck new would probably be missing BLIS, lane departure, 360* camera--all fairly large ticket items that would be nice to have as well.

Dunno. Hopefully I look at the used truck and it's either clearly a gem or clearly a turd. That would make it easy

It seems reasonable to be able to get a new 302a XLT 3.5 10 speed for about $40k before fees and taxes (and those vary). I have no idea what new lariats are going for, haven't really been looking.

I've been looking @ this one. Pretty nice, but no trailer brake controller. (can be added of course).
I just can't give up my 25K mile 5.0 13 Lariat (with Lariat +)-now 501 and some $$.

Price seems pretty in line with what ive seen up here, meaning you should be able to find one spec'd out how you like for that price.

well you get the idea. I asked about a Raptor they had on the floor while my rig was getting the 20K service done, and asked one of their sales managers about the discount. They are offering another 3K on top of the prices they are advertising.
