Default Upgrading USB Ports

I still have the factory original USB ports in the media bin of my truck. I'm thinking about upgrading the ports to make the system compatible with Apple CarPlay. At one time there were two different hubs you could buy for this. The most commonly available part was a HC3Z-19A387-B which had blue background light. The other one was a GJ7Z-19A387-B with white background light.

A check with Tasca Parts online now shows that the above parts are no longer available and the new part number is C1BZ-19A387-C which looks to have a 3.5 mm audio line in plug and SD card slot like the 2015 trucks had.

Can anyone confirm that the new part does indeed replace the old ones and that it is CarPlay compatible?

Its not the one with sd slot and 3.5. Using the two part numbers you listed, they both show as available. This one HC3Z-19A387-B is version E now HC3Z-19A387-E

I swapped out the usb in my 16 for HC3Z-19A387-E and CarPlay came up soon as I plugged my phone in. You also need to have Sync updated to the most recent version 2.2

My 2016 came with SYNC 3 and I'm up to date with the software. When I check that part, this is what I get:

I'm not suggesting the HC3Z-19A387-E won't work, but the idea of an SD slot and 3.5 mm line-in would make it a lot more versatile.

I'd be surprised if the pin out matches since the new version does not have a 3.5 input

It looks like they stopped using the one that uses the as card in 16 which makes me believe. It will not work since CarPlay was added in 17. It says the part number I gave you does not fit cause it’s not the original part for your truck. I pulled that number from a 2019 F-150.

Also if you really want to keep the 3.5 mm jack usability, you can get a usb to 3.5mm cable and plug into the usb using anything with the 3.5 jack

Thanks but I currently don't have a 3.5 mm or a SD slot. My 2016 came with only dual USB ports which I believe was what all 2016s were equipped with. Just wanting to get the latest and greatest as long as it works.

I'd love to get the AA/CP functionality in the middle storage bin... is the wiring there? Or is this not an option...
