Upgrading to Sync 3 - Is this real?
QUOTE=Titaniumone;4372362]For 2k, you can upgrade to an excellent Alpine head unit that will do soooooo much more ... It's a no for me at this price point.[/QUOTE]
There are a couple of issues with going with an aftermarket unit.
Biggest issue is Ford has incorporated so many things together such as climate and showing navigation directions on your information screen. In vehicles of yesterday I would agree with you, but these modern vehicles are becoming more complicated, therefore making factory options your best bet. Plus you probably need devices such as the Maestro to make the aftermarket unit compatible with the truck and other devices such as allowing you to your steering wheel controls. When you start to add it all up, maybe the 2k for the Sync 3 isn't such a bad deal since you won't lose any of the factory options.
Your other issue could be finding a dash board face plate to fit a 2015. Maybe their out, but I haven't looked since I'm one of those people who would upgrade to the Sync 3.

I agree with you on some point. If you're the owner of a Platinum, that presents a problem. But I have an XLT with MFT but no nav. I did not see a point in paying 800$ for it when I already have it on my phone. I can upgrade to an aftermarket and actually gain something .... Still, I'd rather stay with ford but not at 2K$
Just received an email from the sales manager at OEM and said we can preorder but it will be out in December. Now we just need to find out how we stay current regarding the updates that will be coming down the line from Ford. Pretty cool though!
No thanks, waste of money plus I don't really like the sync 3 set up that looks similar to the Jeep/Dodge. MFT with Siri eyes update works awesome.
As nice as Sync3 is, it's simply not worth spending $2,000. I have it in my Focus ST. I picked the '16 over the '15 to get it. I gave up $1250 in rebates so you can say I paid for it.
