Going to order a 2018 Platinum - which engine
I'll be ordering a 2018 Platinum within the next month or two and am still on the fence as to which engine I should choose. Take the stock 5.0 Coyote or upgrade to the 3.5 EB?
I'm coming from a RWD 2010 Platinum with a 5.4 Triton. I currently have 158k miles on it, and nary a problem. My new Platinum will also be a RWD, probably with 3.55 gears and locker. I expect to have this truck just as long as my 2010, averaging about 20k miles / year. My main concern with the EB is longevity. However, I hear that the dual injectors should help here. Some things to note:
So..... which engine would you choose if you were in my position?
Thanks

Some things to note:
- I rarely tow, only towed a boat twice in 7+ years of owning my 2010
- I commute 24 miles each way to work, mostly highway
- A first mod will be Bilstein 5100s all around, and will level
- I plan on upgrading to bigger and better tires, probably to some Nitto Terra Grappler
So..... which engine would you choose if you were in my position?
Thanks

I went from a 5.0 to the 3.5 and I like the 3.5 better, only have a few hundred miles of driving so its not a large sample. Best thing you can do is drive both and see which one you like better.

Oh it will.
My advice is get what you want. If you're comfortable with the V8 then buy another one. Since you're not going to stress the truck much, go with whatever you're comfortable with. Either will be fine. If you haven't driven an a EB, do yourself a favor and at least try it out to see what you may or may not be missing.
There, was that politically correct enough.

If you want bullet proof get the 5.0.
Big difference from your 5.4.

3.55 is a great all around gear.
