Can't go wrong either way. Test drive each, then order the one you prefer

Because I plan on putting some larger heavier tires on.

I get the comfrotability with the 5.0 but, it's hard to pass up a motor with 470 ft lb of torque that gets 22+ MPG on the highway.

I test drove them all in 2015. I bought the 2.7. I wish that I'd gone with the V8. The 5.0 - the old 5.0 - drove well enough, and if they'd stocked one the way that I wanted I would have bought it and that would have been the end of it, but they didn't. So I drove them all, and decided the V6s drove a little bit better, and they had a blue one besides, so here I am. A month or three in I'd already forgotten how the other two motors drove, much less the car that I drove before that which was faster than all three of them. But I'm reminded every time that I drive the truck how bad the vacuum cleaners sound.

Between the presumable low end bump of the new engine, a light 2WD truck, short gearing with the 10 speed, and not towing anything, and coming from the slug of the old 5.4, the new 5.0 surely drives well enough too.

The V6 probably drives better still, but it surely has a mess of plumbing under the hood and surely still sounds like poop.

go to the Chevy and Ram forums and look at all the problems they're having.
