Default Tuning

Ok so I have a Question about purchasing a tuner, I dont know what kind but I was wondering if there is a way to only tune the sport mode on my truck for speed and keep a normal/eco mode to be the regular tune for normal driving, thank you

Just drive it normal with the custom tune and let her rip when you activate sport mode. Easy enough. Almost every custom tune will yield more mpg's over the factory tune if you drive it sensibly.

Check out www.burgertuning.com they have a tuner that has different maps. I'm not exactly sure how they are switched, but definitely working out. I'm getting that tuner as soon as I figure out which motor to go with.

Incorrect sir. Most aspects regarding transmission shifting, (both up and down) and throttle (response and curve) can be mapped differently, so there can be substantial differences. The engine tuning specifically can't be changed between the 2, but that's a small element in the feel and performance of a tune. Reach out to OZ Tuning, he does just what you are asking. You can have full power in both mods, with different performance due to the other factors, and the Omega tune adapts to the fuel used, and works great, I've seen the logs and it just flat out works. No drawbacks so far as I can tell. I even have my OEM tow shift mode, but with the added power from the tune.

Yep, Im going with these guys as well---soon as someone puts up a dyno sheet for the reg 3.5EB, great thing about the JB4 is that you can take it off in a few minutes and there are Zero trace of a tune, because there is no overwriting of the ECM. You change the map profiles (each with diff Boost PSI) by their data cable and a software program you load onto your computer OR buy their BT and download the APP and you can get lots of other info plus change the Maps on the fly through the APP and update the JB4 as well when needed.

The way I read his question is can he have a stock tune except in a sport mode...like the tune only function in sport mode. In that respect, I’m correct.

Once you drive it tuned, you won't want to drive it stock again.

Well, he didn't say stock, he said normal, and assuming we read and interpret what was actually typed, and assume that he is not purchasing a tuner and keeping the stock file (are you seriously saying that?)...... the answer to that is you can maintain the stock tune, just not the stock file (since you want to split hairs) and tune sport mode. Either way, it's possible. He mentioned nothing about keeping the stock file. So incorrect all around, sorry.(well, not sorry)

I had virtually exactly what he is referring to at 2 different times while tuning my truck. An altered SCT base file, and the original mild normal mode tune used for logging.

Again, you can retain the stock tune if you wish in normal and alter the sport (and tow / haul) tune for that matter, there would be no point, better to do a milder shift tune in normal, and an aggressive one in sport. Heck you can even separate out 4x4 parameters in all mode too,

Not everything in life needs to be a pissing match, sometimes people err. Good grief. Petulance is abundant around folks with massive ego's.
