I wasn't aware you could re calibrate the speedo yet, at least I'm unable to via an SCT X4 on a 3.5 as of last week. Have they released an update?

I'm unsure if zx12-iowa was being sarcastic or agreeing but that was just my findings. I have absolutely nothing against 5* and have had good luck with them in the past just in this particular instance I was left unimpressed comparatively.

 

Yeah that is for sure good mileage after those mods . Are you happy with the performance increase ? I'm worried it may be too much and damage my transmission . I'm not hard on my vehicles and this is my daily driver but I wouldn't mind an extra 30 hp or more

 

I still can't change the speedo with my tuner. I bought the Hypertec Speedometer Calibrator and it worked great. I figured if SCT ever releases an update so we can program the BCM I can flash the tires back to stock on the Hypertec and sell it.

I don't know if he was being sarcastic or not so I threw my own smart** comment in there.

 

I'm looking to upgrade my tires to either 33x12.5's or 35x12.5's as soon as I figure out how bad the rubbing will be with the 35's on my 2015 XLT Sport SCrew 3.5 EB.

Exactly how necessary is an aftermarket tuner with these upgraded tires? And has anyone ever seen any engine or transmission issues with their truck after years of using one? To me it just seems like it can't be good for the longevity of your vehicle. And also does it void any of your factory warranties? Also how bad will the bigger tires throw my speedometer off?

Well with those bigger tires you're going to notice a loss of power and your speedo will be off. The tuner should be able to bring things back to stock feel or close to it, maybe even a little gain.

 

This surprises me a little, I also have an SCT X4 and I was under the impression it could calibrate for tire size change?
I'm currently not using mine on the new truck but I plan to once I get the level kit and larger tires.

 

Tire size re-calibration with the SCT is being worked on as we speak. Literally.

 

Its available on the livewire TS so hopefully for you guys it will be available soon for the X4

Just FYI I can calibrate the tire size (by revolutions per mile) with my tuner. It just doesn't do anything. An unsuspecting person would assume that the change went through but when you test to a GPS the speedometer hasn't changed.

My future problem will be when they finally do update the tuner, I have to find a windows machine to download the update too. Apparently they are not compatible with Mac for updates, but the tuner works fine through an iOS device.
