Default Trying to find u joints

So, today I pulled my u joints (more on that below) only to discover that the parts in Advance Auto Parts catalog didn’t fit in the yokes. The arms of the joints were too long. AAP could not locate an appropriately sized alternative. And Auto Zone has nothing in their catalog at all. This seems bizarre and I admit unlikely. But I now have a truck with no driveshaft as I can’t source replacement universal joints.
Has anyone else encountered this? It seems like a really strange situation.
Btw, in case it helps anyone else—I could not get the caps off the u joints for anything. I had to press them through, and then back through in the other direction, a couple of times, applying liquid wrench each time, until they were loose enough to remove the caps from the outside.
Thakk goodness I borrowed a press from AAP. Doing it without that would have been even more of a bear.

So Tasca canceled my order. Said the parts weren't available from Ford. Dealer doesn't have any and said no dealer within 400 miles had any either. Napa doesn't have them. Federated doesn't have a matching part. Autozone and Advanced Auto don't have them. This is bizarre, and meantime my truck is laid up.

Ford says the shafts are non serviceable...maybe that means the u-joints as well?
At any rate I’d take one of the yokes to a driveline shop and let them get you the parts.

mThanks. That’s what my dealer said too. And according to tasca those are discontinued and the B versions can’t be ordered. No dealers seem to have A or B.

Did the u-joints have clips holding them in the yoke? Or were they staked in? Various manufacturers have been using non-serviceable u-joints since the 70's, as UNBROKEN implied. They're installed, centered, and the yokes staked to lock them in place, at the factory.

Could also be that your drive shaft is not a Ford part. Did you buy the truck new from Ford?
