Default True Duals

Bit the bullet today. Had a custom shop fabricate and install true dual exhaust on my RCSB. I did it really just for the sound. The shop is located about 120 miles from my Hasenda. So I had a good rainy day to have the mod done.

Here are some pictures. Sorry about the dirty truck. I was told by a lot of folk that duals would hardly be noticed on a modern V8 so my expectations were very low that I would see any power or fuel mileage increase.

I was very wrong! There is a noticeable increase in low RPM acceleration. NOTICEABLE! The motor revs much quicker. Mid range is also much stronger. On hilly roads the trucks stays in high gear and won't shift down to fifth unless it's a steep incline. Especially noticeable on the expressway. Big smile because I honestly wasn't expecting this improvement.

On the return trip I averaged one mpg better. That's a five-percent improvement. I will chart this and see if it pans out.

Here are the iPhone pics in the rain. The mufflers are Flowmaster 40's with no resonators.

Tucked up very nicely, nice welds, and I like them being dumped like that, classy. How's it sound?

Mustang like tight and machined mellow purr. A little rasp on start up. Can't hear it at all at cruising speeds, unless it downshifts under load. Then you get a quick roar.

Haven't really jumped on it with full throttle yet. Just normal driving so far. You definitely hear it in the cab running through traffic. Not loud, but a cool powerful sound.

Haven't heard it from the outside yet. It has a cool moderate blurble coming to a stop.

I'm far from an exhaust expert but it looks like it would not take much for those mufflers to touch and rattle.

I haven't checked these, but my last ones were welded together to prevent rattle. No worries on my last truck.

I gotcha. I have never had two mufflers on any of my trucks. I have had plenty of Flowmaster single mufflers with dual outlets on some older 4.6 and 5.4's. They sounded pretty good. I don't believe I will be trying them out on the little ole 2.7.
