Default Truck + Recovery Strap = bye bye tree

**Disclaimer - attempt at your own risk as really bad things can happen when trying this if you don't take proper precautions**

Had a sick tree in the front yard that needed to go, I topped it the other day and now it was time to get rid of the trunk/stump to make room for a new tree. Did a little excavation around it & cut the large roots with the chainsaw, then flooded the hole. After that the truck did the rest - a couple of good tugs in 4H in she was out. Tree was about 35-40 years old.

i did this to a big bush i had in the front yard with a tundra and a chain. One word of caution, if your grass is slippery and you hit the gas you may end up with 4 streaks in your yard

A LITTLE off-topic... I'm planning to get off-road with a buddy of mine and I'm shopping around for recovery gear. Did you loop the recovery strap around something, or did you use a shackle + D-ring? I ask because I've got the two factory attachment points at the front, but nothing similar at the rear.

I guess I should be asking the same about my friend's 4Runner... but I'm not planning to be the one that gets stuck.

Excellent post. Those are the things you need.

I'll add though, never pull someone out in reverse because you're putting loads on the coast side of the ring gear. They're not designed to be used like that.

I used a Smittybuilt D-ring with 3/4" shackle in my hitch receiver and a recovery strap. No metal hooks or any metal on metal contact with the recovery strap....that is how things break and people/ property get damaged.

You definitely got to stop and think about what your doing, you can turn items into projectiles and they can kill.
