Default Truck Computer Updates

Much like Windows and IOS sends out computer updates for their operating systems all the time, I'm wondering does Ford offer such a program where we can go to the dealership and get downloaded the latest/greatest programming for our trucks? Seems like smart vehicles such as ours (especially with the technology package) would benefit from being updated every so often.

No. Sync gets infrequent updates, which for 2015 you get get via download from the Ford owner site.

Ford only updates the software in your truck if there is a recall, or if you have a problem that requires an update, often a TSB.

Not yet. What people do not realize is that a company like Ford has a lot of embedded, old thinking in it. What you are suggesting will come about, but it hasn't yet because engineers are resistant to change, especially change they don't understand or feel like they are losing control. Especially in a very risk adverse industry like automotive manufacturing.

But what you discuss is coming. It has to. Connected, autonomous vehicles will demand that sw glitches are fixed ASAP.
