Watch some of the fail videos on YouTube where people accidentally load their ATV on the roof of their truck or drive it into the cab. All it takes is one mistake and your truck is fubar.

Just sharing info and a gift to myself... bought some long ramps for our future ATV. Yes, I went with the 11 footers... I'll definitely use ratchet straps to lock these in place on my hitch. I really wanted a longer ramp, for an easier approach.

Next step is finishing the bed liner.... (We've been eyeballing a Polaris Sportsman 570 2-UP).

Good posts.
I have a polaris sportsman 850 Touring and she is too wide and long for my short bed.
I have a trailer but am buying a long bed for this very reason!

I'd keep the trailer for when I needed it but I would use the truck bed if I didn't need the space. I transport my ATV in the truck bed to keep all the winter road salt off it. They get filthy if it's an open trailer. I can go to deer camp for a week with clothes, coolers, etc and return with a deer don't need to haul a trailer. by all means get at least 7 foot ramps, much easier and safer loading. They slide right underneath the ATV. This year i upgraded to a bigger ATV so I can't get the gate closed anyway.

you must keep the tailgate down if youre sliding the ramps . Under. Correct?

I just checked and the 11' long ramps I have (after folding), fit into my 6.5' box with about 4" to spare. But I do realize that if I buy a 2-UP ATV, I'll have to keep the tailgate down. (At the least the numbers indicate that). I'm fine with it.
