Default Transmission Shift Points

Is there a way for me to reprogram my transmission? Maybe Forescan? I'd really like something that isn't stupid like the factory program. Just when it should shift someone at Ford though that would be a good place to add an extra 1000rpms for no apparent reason. The skipping gears is stupid too it would be nice to have a non-S way to not skip gears. I'd even pay for a better shift program.

You need to get a handheld tuner and have a custom tune done.

Yep, you need a custom tune. 5 star provided me good results before I went the self tuning route.

I went with the Omega tune from OzTuning. Excellent folks, they answered the phone when I had questions and the tune is exactly how the truck should have been from day 1.

5 Star lists the tune as $599. Does that include everything I need? I am confused as it appears that might not include the actual tuner. Are the tuners handheld or just a computer/smartphone app connected to the ODB port?

$599 includes the tuner and tunes. I’m not sure how some of them work but the SCT BDX comes loaded with tunes, you hook it up to the OBD port and load the tune. You can either leave the tuner plugged in to monitor gages or pull it.

even though I’ve had 5 star on my last 5 vehicles, I’d get Oz tuning if I had a V8, never heard a complaint.

These also include the transmission tune? I am most concerned about that as I think that will greatly improve drivability. Specifically I want the shift points changed I am so tired of over-revving between shifts.

Just checked out Oz - for sure I am not paying $1k! SCT BDX seems like the way to go if it includes transmission re-programming.

Also - My car is under warranty. If I remove the tune before going to the dealer, can the dealer tell I put on a tune and deny warranty service?

So OZ offers one tune and one tune only...good for towing/racing/daily driving and ive heard the transmission tuning is amazing. I would ask in the performance section or call them and ask. Not sure if any other members can chime in @johnday in BFE

5 star does offer transmission tuning only. So when you go to their page, select Tucks, F150, 2018-2020 V8, pick the tuning device and that will bring up options. You usually get 3 tunes, I normally get a towing one, performance one, then an adaptive tune. They do offer a "transmission tune only" which is what you might want?

HPTuners RTD dongle and tune is 800, not sure where you got 1000.

Oz is absolutely awesome. For what you're wanting, they're the best you'll find. It's as simple as it's going to get. As previously mentioned, it's a do it all. You want to race, tow, daily, etc it works. You want 87 octane, 89, 91, 93, 110, e85, etc. It works. Oz has been amazing to work with and their customer service is awesome.
The SCT BDX is a cheaper tuning device and the preloaded tune on it is poopoo. SCT doesn't offer nearly as much in transmission refinement on the 10spds which is why Oz and most others use HPTuners.

Yes the dealer can see it's been tuned. Resets the key cycles or something like that
