brg2015, you are not alone. It seems majority like the shift patterns. At least that is what a few of the Tuner places say.

What a difference! Shifts just the way I want it to now.
I have the 93Performance tune. Unreal how much a tune wakes these ecoboosts up.
Now with the shifting adjusted, I really love the way my truck goes!

Now the only thing I don't like is having Sync2 and not Sync3. ;-)
How's the mileage now tho? I don't want to sacrifice mileage. Is the 93 tune mean you have to run high octane fuel? Here is Canada there is a huge difference in price between low and high. Close to a dollar a gallon.
Do you have any stats on your tuner you can share?

This is the result of tree hugger environmentalists in the never ending quest for better fuel mileage requirements now set by the government. All transmissions in vehicles are doing this now. Bogging is the norm. Glad I lived most of my life without this paranoia.

Yes, you have to run 93 octane with a 93 tune.
The tuners can write tunes for any octane level though.

Not sure what my mileage is yet with the new shifts, but I'll be fine with it.
If/when gas prices go back up, I can always flash back to stock or a lower octane.

Ford has been making their trucks shift into the tallest gear as quick as possible for years now. Drivability has been thrown out in favor of mpgs. I wouldn't mind a program that acts like sport mode but not hold onto a gear in a straight away. It would be really cool if it would truly learn how I shift in manual/ sport mode for a day and then do that in automatic mode. That's what I call a learning transmission. Does anyone know if the transmissions are programmed the same for all engines? Or do the have different software for each engine?

Wondering if there are any tuner manufacturers of this forum? If so could you please chime in on this topic? I have just about had it with my truck. Hate the lugging and always being in the wrong gear. I'm so glad I got the 3.55 gears and couldn't imagine any higher ! I think the truck would stall! Lol There has to be a better flash for the shift points. I have talked to a lot of others and they all feel the same. The stock shift points would be fine if I could only drive downhill lol.

I have the 3.5EB, but drove the other engines and they all seemed to really want to be in the tallest gear possible.

This is the only thing that bothers me (other than sync2)

I'm wondering if it's just me...

Reason I say that is because I called a few of the tuners and they say they leave the transmission logic as-is since folks are happy with it.

I do have an Unleashed tune and he said I am the first to ask for shift modification.

Anyone think the tranny does it's best to bog things down too much?
I realize it's for fuel mileage, but I personally would prefer less economy than cruising around town 30mph in 5th gear.

Just curious....

I find myself just putting it in Tow/Haul, or Sport mode when I feel the transmission is lugging the engine. But then it doesn't coast as much (holds the higher gears when decelerating) so I change it back to normal mode, then back to Sport when I come to a stop. My right thumb gets a workout.

Exactly! I would purchase a tuner in a heartbeat to remedy this problem. Plus would get the added benefits of being able to do a tow tune and a few other tunes as well. I bet once gets put on the market and solves this problem without loss of mileage , they won't be able to keep them on the shelves.

And unfortunately, the button on the console shifter isn't all that well placed.

So true. What I do around town when it starts its lugging crap is just use the lockout button (which is better placed) and lock out 6th gear. Even at 30-40 mph I find with 3:55 gears that its stays above 1500 rpm and no more lugging feeling. Easy Peasy
