Got my 2018 XLT 5.0 end of January and twice now when I pull out of my driveway when the truck is still 'cold' (not warmed up) when shifting out of first, it just revs high. I know it should shift from 1-3 but this past weekend, I looked at the dash and it said I was in 2. The only 2 times this has happened the truck was not warm. Once up to operating temp, I can't get it to do it again. Just turned over 65000kms. Wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

take it to the dealer and have them check fluid level and see if the update has been applied. There is a software update that i had done on mine and it shifts great even when cold.

I let the trans warm up a few minutes first.

 

They have an update for Trans 10R80 made all my Trans problems go away.....

My truck will use 2nd sometimes, very rarely but it does.

 

yeah, when cold it would hang between gears and had some harsh shifting, now it shifts great. it still is a little slow to shift when cold, but not even in the same ballpark like it was.

 

I'm definitely going to get the software updated and see how it is. Frustrating only having the truck for 2 months now but it sounds like the software will fix the problem. Fingers crossed.
