transmission issue???
I am having an issue with my 2019 f150 5.0L 502a lariat. I have a feeling it is the transmission. I get a shake. its the feeling of an unbalanced tire feel. i have had the tire balance, rims trued, alignment done, slip joint on drive shaft lubed.
i can not find the issue and i am getting tired of it already. it happens at low speed and high speed. seems to be the worst first thing in the morning and not as bad but still there
after driving for a while. here is all the issues i have found and i am not sure if these are all related:
the shake like i explained
3rd to 5th is a firmer shift. 3rd to 4th is fine and 4th to 5th is fine but 3rd to 5th is harder then normal.
if i accelerate(put load on the engine) and let off quick, i hear a clunk. if i am towing, the clunk happens more often.
Has anyone had these issues or any of them? any help is appreciated.
Back story, at 96,000km(right before warranty was up) i was approved for a new engine under warranty for oil consumption. While doing the oil consumption test, i was towing a trailer and blew the
torque converter seal. that was replaced under warranty. I wanted to extend the warranty but since i was waiting on an engine, ford would not approve an extended warranty because the truck need
to pass a full health check before being approved. this was in the covid ***** show so i waited over a year for a new engine. ford made me drive my truck and just gave me cases of oil to add to the
engine until the new engine came in. i got my new engine when the truck hit 120,000km therefore i was not able to get extended warranty.

I mean, it seems your transmission is going bad, it could be a fluid level issue as well. Personally, I'd take it to an independent transmission shop for evaluation. I'd leave details out on the front end, fill in later after they take it for a ride with you.
I have had it at a trans shop. they said it seems fine. the hard shifting could be due to build up in valve body.
but the guy is crazy busy so he might not want my truck in there lol.

Does it shudder when accelerating? When shifting? At steady throttle? At cruise? At one specific RPM band?
Hard shifts from 3-5 are a common indicator of a failing CDF drum.

i notice a shutter just every now and then. not very often. but the shake is all the time.
its a shake like an unbalanced tire.
also a hard shift from 3rd to 5th only.
never 3rd to 4th or 4th to 5th or any other gear change. just 3rd to 5th.
and a firm shift like when you used to put a shift kit in an older truck.
