Default Transfer case selector switch

I have a 2016 5.0 Lariat sport SCREW and I didn't realize until this winter when I had to use the 4 wheel drive that I get a lot of resistance when making slow turns, then I found out I could have got a truck with 4 auto if I did more research.

I noticed people in the forum have been able to add the hill decent control by adding the switch and activating it through the computer. If I buy a transfer case switch with 4 auto (found on eBay for $114) can I swap it out and activate it the same way or are the transfer cases themselves different?

They are different transfer cases. So your idea won't work. Sorry.

Pretty sure the "with TOD(torque on demand)" transfer case is the one you want for 4A. Plus the matching control module. Not the cheapest swap.

Also I thought the 4A transfer case was standard on the Lariat and above... My 501A 2016 Lariat has it.

I had a feeling it sounded too easy to be true. Thanks for the info; looks like I will just have to be better about switching in and out of 4H and 2H.

Is your truck a Canadian model? Here is the page straight out of the US 2016 Ford F-150 brochure.

US model, I do have the snow plow prep package in it though if that makes a difference. One of my co-workers said I lose the 4 auto option due to the sport package, which didn't make sense that the FX4 would have it but sport package wouldn't (seeing that most people in the forum who are against 4 auto are the off road guys).

I have a '15 Lariat Sport FX4 502A and have the 4A so I don't think the FX4 or Sport options are the issue unless they changed the packaging in '16. I too thought all Lariat-level 4x4 had the 4A for '15-'17.

The package that is responsible for losing the 4 auto feature is actully your plow prep package not the sport or fx4

It is indeed the snow plow prep.

Has anyone been able to confirm that swapping out the transfer-case and replacing the module is all that is needed to get 4A to work?
