Default Trans and engine temp running hot

Well coming home from the mx track the other day I ran into over heating issues 83k on it . The trans was 220 and engine 220-230 running about 75 mph and started randomly shifting . The wrench light came on saying drive train malfunction. I slowed way down 55 mph and nursed it to a gas station , filled up with gas and let it cool . I did notice the trans was leaking a little but nothing major . I continued home about an hour on the back roads with no issues . Yesterday I changed to the new updated thermostat and drove about 1 hr each way and everything was good and temps stayed around 200 and under . I'll take it in and get the trans fluid changed again. This would be the 3rd trans flush .
Any other suggestions I should do ?

I think your trans should be fine, the flush and fill is a good plan. The fluid puked out only because it got warm. What year and engine do you have?

I have 19 lariat fx4 3.5 . I took it in today and they said the last guy over filled it . The jr tech guy kind of panicked because there was fluid on the pan but I assume it pumped it out the over flow valve on top when it got hot , hasn't leaked anything since. Seems to be good now but the highway speeds where it would act up so I'll check it out this weekend . The front tech said 230 degrees for a short time is no big deal. I called the other shop and they just shrugged it off which is disappointing

Is everything good? Have you found any solution for it?

My temps were slowly starting to get higher and higher too. It never got to where it threw a wrench light, though. The updated thermostat and switching to the updated yellow coolant fixed the issue for me.

X2 on the yellow coolant change and installation of updated thermostat. 2017 3.5 with 96K miles. For years the truck has occasionally hit the 228-230 degree mark whenever doing 80mph in 10th gear and going up hills where the turbos run for extended times, and when pulling trailers (even 4,000 lbs trailers...nothing heavy). I always overcame this by running the truck in 9th or 8th gear. Now that I've had the flush and t-stat changed, I cannot get it that warm even if I try. AWESOME! (I never ran it so hot that the tranny burped fluid, though).

I changed to the updated thermostat and new coolant and it seemed to fix the issues . I had to wait and do some highway speeds (80) and everything has stayed 20 to 30 degrees cooler so hopefully all is good . thanks guys
