Default Trailer Smart Module

I have a 2015 Platinum. I bought an auxiliary strip tail light and it plugs into the four prong trailer power source to operate. I really like the light and it looks great. Unfortunately, my trailer smart module is reading the device as a trailer. Thus it disables my back up assist and blind spot radar. Any ideas on how I can get the smart module to stop thinking of the plugged in light as a trailer? I really want to use the light strip, but I certainly want my back up assist and bling spot radar. Help please.

You need wire the light into the harness before the plug

No, you need to wire it elsewhere. If it is tapped into the trailer wire harness, either in the plug or the other side, truck sees a trailer. You must run wires elsewhere. Numerous posts on this. I believe people go the the brake lights, but be careful if you have BLIS, which can be disabled also.

Rick is correct which is what I meant just poorly worded.

If you wire a LED light bar to the trailer harness, BLIS will be deactivated. You'll need to wire directly to your back lights.
The tail light wires you need are as follows:

Left tail light:

Left blinker is brown/green stripe
Tail light is blue/silver stripe
Reverse light is green/brown stripe

Right tail light:

There are two wires same color. The right light is purple/pink stripe. To help you, it's in the same position as the left light wire on the left side.

Grounds are near the spare tire.

OP, I would suggest you read your manual to understand BLIS and how it works. It is important.

Thank you for the help gents. I took your suggestions and ultimately ended up wiring it through the tail lights. Yea, if I tried anywhere in advance of the tailights it would read it as an attached trailer.
