Trailer lights NOT working ?????

Do you have HID's or any other aftermarket LED's in place of the factory lights? I helped a buddy of mine put LEDs in all of his lights around the truck, HIDs in the head lights and fog lights. His truck is a lariat 502a with LED tails/BLS I believe, everything worked before we installed all of this. For some reason after the truck recognized the trailer was plugged in but acted as if it didn't have enough power to run the running lights. Not sure if you have brake lights when you hit the pedal or not. Might want to give people a little more info if the truck is modded at all.

1. Get a trailer light tester (harbor freight or something)
2. Try to plug trailer in another truck.
3. Try to plug another trailer to your truck (go to tractor supply, lowes, etc).
Based on my experience, it's usually the trailer's fault.

I have the same issue. I have taken my truck to the dealer where I purchased the new truck and they can't fix it. I have taken my truck there 4 times and still no brake lights or turn signals. I just took it to a Ford dealer closer to home this week and I have had it there twice and it is still not fixed. They are saying that the test light shows power to the trailer adapter, but I have 3 boat trailers and 1 utility trailer and none of them work. I only have running lights.

Lights won't come on immediately, let it run for a minute or two. Mine seem to start working when I get the trailer connected message.

Mine never work.. I never get a trailer connected message. I know it isnt the trailers.. I have tried my buddies 2013 on the same boat trailer and lights work fine.. it is something w/ the truck.. Only thing that works is running lights..
Is that trailer connected message on a fancier model or something? I have the 2016 XLT.. Dealer also said one time to try and go in and configure the trailer and make sure that you tell the truck that the trailer is connected.. That didnt work either.. I think there is a short or wire crossed.

I didn't even know they didnt work til this summer. I have been pulling my boat all spring, until someone told me, "hey, ur lights arent working".. should be able to just hook up and go.. I've always had chevy trucks, but I thought i'd switch.. issues like this put a bad taste in my mouth.. I would be ok, but I have take it 6 times to a dealer and still no answers..

Bad dealers don't know what they are doing.
I love the smart connector, after checking my trailer lights before setting off, I got a message to check my right brake light going down the road. When I checked it, it was burnt out. I even had it notify me I had a LED brake/tail light out. I was REALLY surprised at that.
You might delete all of your trailer and redo adding it and try again. When I did mine, I added all of my trailers at one time before they were even connected and then connected one a few days later, took a minute or two to get the trailer connected message but the lights worked.
