Nevermind the cost of one, I found that out. I thought I read somewhere though that I'll need to have a dealer unlock it? Is that true?

 

Yes, either by the dealer or by you. Dealer has to hook it up to the computer, you can do it with forscan.

For less than the dealer charge to program, if you have a windows laptop, you can invest in setting up FORscan and you'll have it for future mods.

 

My dealer installed the factory brake controller at delivery for $166. Cheaper than an aftermarket and it is a clean install and controlled through the truck.

The window sticker is easiest if you have it. There is a site that will provide a copy for a fee. I saw the link posted in these forums recently. If you know somebody with access to the Ford computer system they could get it. If not ask to have your VIN decoded.

You can install an OEM controller yourself. It's so easy even a caveman can do it. Just follow the instructions in this link.
