With the uncertainty about the origins of the Motorcraft,do yourself a huge favor and stick with the OEM on this one.

I read some reviews where the knockoffs were dying after a few months. I bought the OEM from an online Ford dealer who offered to look up my VIN so I would get the right part. YouTube videos were a great help. When it came time to buy the adapter to use Forscan I bought one that was recommended on the Forscan site. It switches automatically from the high speed bus to the medium speed bus so there's no need to flip a switch on the adapter during the programing. Everything worked out great. Much better than the aftermarket controller screwed to the lower dash panel. Worth every penny.

No doubt! I ordered from Fairway Ford yesterday. I think a TBC isn't something you want to take chances with unnecessarily. I'm just curious about the Motorcraft controller.
