Thinking a bit more, how would I know if I have the Tow Package? I assumed I would have different mirrors, mine are the standard black (no lights).

Tasca site says "Vehicles must be equipped with Trailer Tow Package or Max Trailer Tow Package (wiring) for kit to be functional." (FL3Z19H332AB)

Doesn't it use the plug behind the little cubby that gets removed on the dash, or is it referencing that it isn't enabled in the computer? I don't have a Tow Package, but I do have a hitch so I'm thinking of adding the TBC potentially.
Without the Tow Package, does your truck have the 7 pin connector?

If it does, it could be that the wiring is not in the dash without the tow package.

No, I just looked and I have a 4-flat. The hitch says Hidden Hitch on it, so I think it was added aftermarket.

Does that mean the wiring isn't in the dash?

I don't think you have the wiring in the dash or throughout the truck. The 7 Pin plug is needed for electric trailer brakes to work.

So, is there wiring under the truck I could look for to see if the 7pin wiring is there, but not used?

I don't have the LED bed lights, but the connector is there to add them. Hoping the TBC wiring is the same way.

Good write up. I own a 2014 STX with the trailer tow package but no controller so I ordered the controller from direct from Tasca. I called a couple dealers for cost to flash the computer and I got prices from $100 to $110. One even told me they couldn't do it cause it would mess up my computer. I sure hope all works fine once I get it since I will be towing a new enclosed trailer to haul my rat rod to car shows and parades..

Depending on the year of the truck. If it has just a hitch it is rated for 5k lbs towing....if it had factory tow package it comes with hd cooling and a small xmsn oil cooler....max tow got the same plus integrated brake controler....

I don't think yours is wired....look for a wiring plug under the dash or a plug that came in a plastic bag with wires in on it in the glove box....that is to add a aftermarket brake controller.

If you tow anything g over 5k add a after market controller and a inexpensive trans oil cooler

2015 to 2016 trucks

Some trucks came from the factory with the hitch but no tow package (stupid)....

You can check the cubby hole ...but I do not think the plug is going to be there...nor will the module be there to turn it on.

You just have to run a aftermarket controller which work very well also....etrailer will have the items you need

At a minimum, even if it's plugged in, you will need to enable it. Either the dealer, almost always for a fee, or using FORScan.

Look on your truck and see if the connector is there then members can direct you on what to do next.
