A yr and a half ago i could have gotten 15k, but i thought the 13 model was too close to my 08 so i didn't bite the bullet. Now that I needed to sell, they offered me 8.5K. I said thx but no thx and took my truck back...currently have 2 f150's
same dealer called me this morning and go figure, some guy at the dealership wanted it and they just re-offered me $9800. I know I can sell it for more, but I really have to unload it and don't want to worry about it too long.

Trade depends on how it is laid out. It all depends on what you pay for the new one. My documents show I got $43,000 for my 2012 F150 Platinum. But I paid MSRP of $60,400. I also got $750 coupon and the $1000 rebate. In reality, I paid invoice of $55,400 and my trade was $38,000(which was below kbb and nada trade in value) my truck had some popular to the area extras and had 20,000 miles.
Trade also make more sense than selling outright because of the difference you pay in tax. Many would have to sell their vehicle outright for several thousand more than a dealer trade in just to make the net result the same. When you are paying full tax on $55 grand rather than the difference that can make the hassle not worth it IMO.
Merry Christmas!!
