Default TPMS/ Tire issue...

So I screwed up and put fix a flat in my tire, after I had a screw in it. Then took it to a local garage and they put an exterior plug in. Fast forward 2 weeks and the TPMS sensor in that tire isn't reading properly. I go to the dealer and they're telling me that they need to remove the tire from the rim to replace the sensor, but will not remount the plugged tire, and that I need to buy a new tire...my truck only has 4K miles on it, and I'm not happy to hear I need to buy a new tire($450 tire, sensor, and labor). I also checked with some local tire places, mr. Tire, tires plus, etc., but they can't get a sensor for a 2016 (no aftermarket yet)...

I'm thinking I have to bite the bullet and get a new tire...

Anyone have any other idea's?

Buy a new sensor from the dealership and have someone else replace it? If it's an inside patch, I've ran with one until the tread wore out, they tend to last pretty well.

I'd also ask the tire shops what the odds are of getting the sensor to work if you get it out and clean it up.

Can you have them to use the spare tire? You can take the plugged tire somewhere else to get it remounted on spare/ rim afterward.

The spare probably isn't a 20" rim....

I just used something in my wife's tire on her 2013 Ford Fusion. It specifically said on the cat it was safe for use with TPMs. Did the stuff you use not say that?

Cool Don't buy it at the dealership

Sensors at the dealership have huge mark ups. Just get it online. Like at www.titantpms.com

Then you just get them installed at a local tire shop. Should be cheap.

Huge markups, a set of 4 on your site is $184.

If you need OEM sensors get them on ebay OP for $60 shipped.

I got a set of these for my aftermarket wheels.

OEM TPMS

If you only need one they are around $20 or so each.

people survived for many many years without tpms .... just check your pressure the old fashion way until there is an aftermarket one you can get?
