TPMS sensor madness
I bought a new set of wheels and tires for my truck...not that it's applicable to my question but went with Method Grid Titanium/black wheels (+18 offset) and Cooper Zeon LTZ tires (275/60/20).
I got 4 brand new sensors (Ford Motorcraft Tire Pressure Sensors TPMS12 DE8T-1A180-AA ) and I've had two tires shops attempt to pair them to my truck with no success. Both showed me they were working as they should and could read the pressure but the truck isn't recognizing them. I did some research and tried to get them to "train" using the pressure dropping with no success either. Short of taking it to the dealership any one have any ideas? My dealership experiences have not been that positive and I attempt to avoid them like the plague.

These were the ones I bought from Amazon for my 2018. They worked perfect no pairing just drove the truck and all was good. Very reasonable price too, the labor would have been more to harvest them off the original wheels.

Trippy, i just bought the same tires last week but 305/35/24 and bought some sensors at the same time and was just about to ask if i had to have them programmed. I got the same ones as OCmike so im beyond glad to hear i dont have to pay to have them programmed

For troublesome vehicles be aware there are clonable sensors from name brands at reasonable prices. Rather than tweak the vehicle a TPMS test tool is used to read the ID out of your original sensors and write to the new. This way when swapping wheels, say between winter and summer, the vehicle doesn’t notice the change.
