Default TPMS sensor cost

Been perusing wheel vendor sites trying to decide on new wheels. Majority of them offer the ability to also order new TPMS sensors, most at $35+ per sensor.

Why are they that expensive when you can buy the OEM Motocraft sensors for less than $10 each? Am I missing something?

It's been 3-4 years but the last Motorcraft sensor I bought (for my 2014 Mustang) was right at $50 on Amazon. Local dealer wanted $65.

Yup, and in the same link there are two other Motorcraft versions for $45 each. Depends on which one your vehicle uses. I'm glad to see the newer ones coming down in cost. The ones that used a band around the wheel were stupid expensive.

And there is my confusion. How do you know which one is needed? None of the wheel vendors ask anything other than year, model, etc. The same that Rock Auto does. So will any of them work?

parts.ford.com also lists that same sensor (for $16.44) for a 2018 f150.

Why do you say it won't work?

There's new OEM TPMS on ebay for $40-$50 per set. I bought a set off ebay for $50 a little over a year ago and I got a dud. The Ford dealer that figured out that one was bad charged me $90 for another one. I didn't even complain because they got me in on a saturday with no appointment and finally got all 4 TPMS to re-learn. The first dealer I went to couldn't get any of them to relearn or figure out one was bad.
If I had to do it again I'd probably take my chances on the cheap ebay ones again. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...+tpms&_sacat=0

Those would be the European spec sensors and apparently don’t work on ours.

Been running these on my new setup, they self programmed. Came in a static bag with fomoco stamped on all the sensors.
