Default TPMS Reset/Relearn

Hey,

Bought a set of stock wheels off of a co-worker. He showed me the TPMS was working minutes before we pulled the wheels off. Fast-forward a few days later and i get the wheels installed on my truck and they all read 1 or 0.

I did a search on here and some say to just drive it and it will relearn itself, that didnt work. I tried the "turn ign on, hit hazard 6 times, it honks, tells me to learn left front," and i let almost 20 psi of air out and it tells me it didnt work.

Am i hosed? think if i bought the tool it would work? Really dont want to put new sensors on, just had the wheels and tires road force balanced and now it rides nice and smooth, dont want to pay all that money again.

I think that process is for connected sensors to learn their new location. If you have new sensors that have not been "connected" to the truck I would imagine you need the tool.

You're not hosed. You need to tool to activate the sensors during the learning procedure. I have the Ford activation tool in my tool box, I've needed several times.

What year truck were the tires from? Older years are not compatible with the most recent years.

have the same issue. bought a set of tpms off ebay. just installed new tires and after about a mile or 2 it popped up that I have a fault. I made sure they were compatible with my truck before buying. Last set of wheels I did the same thing and they synced right up. I didn't even have to do the relearn process.

Have a part number for the tool? Most I see on amazon say they won’t work on newer model vehicles.

Isn't that "tool" just a magnet? I reprogrammed my Expedition just using a regular old speaker magnet.

The reset tool you are thinking of is TPMS19:
Amazon Amazon
First be sure you are using the correct frequency sensors, there are two but from what I have learned 315 mHZ is what is used on a 2015 + F150. You can verify by entering your VIN to check part # and spec on a Ford parts vendor site like Tasca Ford. Here is the "teaching" procedure which differs from the " learning" procedure. https://performanceparts.ford.com/do...HTM-1180-A.PDF
If either procedure gives an error at any step you probably have a defective or incorrect sensor.
