Default Tpms

I just installed a great set of 2014 20” rims on my ‘16 Lariat for snow tires. They came with the TPMSs from the 2014. This site including the tire shop said they would not work with the ‘16 system and I’d get an error message. Wrong. They work fine.

Just sayin’

So you are looking at the TPMS screen (the one on the center dash screen), and they are reading each tires pressure? If so that is great news.

The 2014 TPMS changed from the old system to the new system part way through the year. You must have gotten a late year set of rims. Glad it all worked out for you.

The sensors might be different style or P/N but they still broadcast at the same 315 MHz.

If your take offs are in the bed of the truck or stored close by, your truck is reading those and not the TPMS from the 14's.

I'd give it a few days. I rode without TPMS sensors for a week and it took a few trips to finally trip the light.

For a 2017, can they still use the special Ford tool to get the truck recognize them instantly? I recently had a level, rims / tires and new TPMS sensors installed by a local offroad shop. When I got the truck back, it had the takeoff wheels and tires in the bed. I never got any warning light on my dash, even after I removed the old tires from the bed. Truck registers the correct pressure and all has been good so far.

Once the original sensors are no longer being read by the truck they will pick up the new sensors and should automatically learn them.

It takes about a 10 mile trip without sensing anything before the light comes on. If you get close enough to the sensors in between trips the truck will pick them up and you start all over again.

OP's 14 sensors are not going to work. Just a matter of time... Hopefully he'll be back to update.
