Default Towing and Tow Mode

We took the camper out camping again had a great time with the grand baby.

So towing with tow mode or sport mode???

Sport Mode Wins!!!

I don't know what it is with this stupid tow mode. I start stopping and it's downshifts and all but then it will like get hung up in a low gear and I start going again and it's like stuck in that gear and the rpm's just keep rising up there. F^%%$# that... No more tow mode for me. It does this alot also.

Wish we could configure how tow mode responds.

Sport Mode tows much better and I don't need the trans down shifting to stop. My trailer and truck brakes work great.

I remember back in the day tow mode did not exist. We just towed. LOL

I ALWAYS prefer the brake components to stop me over the motor or trans. Much rather replace brake pads than a trans.

I have to try sports mode, I leave it in tow mode just to keep the revs up and it disables autopstop.

What trailer do you have? What's your payload onn the truck? Just curious that's all, beautiful trailer.

I liked tow mode alot when I towed a 6500k TT through northern New Mexico. I made sure I had the latest software for the transmission though because I know they did an update due to some awkward shifting. I liked the braking it provided on descent, and I didn't have issues with it then shifting back into the appropriate gear after.

Same here... Tow Mode on these new trucks is way too aggressive.

It's the Grand Design 2150RB. It's perfect for my wife and I and just enough room to take the grand baby once in a while. She's 3 1/2

This is our 6th camper. Kodiak/Aerolite use to be my favorite well made camper but Grand Design is much better. We usually trade them in every 2 to 3 years and write a check for the difference. This I may keep until we decide to get a fifth wheel.

Had a great time we were at TopSail Hill State Park in Destin, FL

I agree with the braking on decent. Also when traveling through a metro area where everyone thinks you (and every semi) can stop on a dime when they cut in front of you.

Question, can I check for the tranny software version or is that dealer (OASIS)?

I can turn up the break controller and be able to stop faster if needed. That helps alot more that the tranny down shifting.

I would be interested in tranny software versions also. Whatever my tow mode is on needs to go

OMG, your granddaughter is so adorable. My youngest is 10 and my oldest is 16 so I am a long way from grandkids.

I only use tow mode on hills, and turn it off on level ground. I'd rather downshift than hold the brake down a long hill. The cooler I keep the trailer brakes, the longer they'll last. They're brand new brakes as well.

The engine braking used to drive me nuts until I became accustomed to it and now I think its critical. Esp when pulling a trailer without brakes.
