Towing question
Long time lurker, first time poster. I had a 2013 Ford F150 XLT eco fully loaded for that. Started to have problems with the transmission. Mainly had it where my truck would downshift. Took it in to get my truck fixed and they charged me $100. I went a week and it started happening again. Everytime I went in to get it fixed I would be told there is no fix for it yet because its a recall. I asked for my $100 back but they couldnt until the truck has been serviced. This place is where I bought my new truck (what a mistake).
I just purchased a 2019 F150 XLT sport edition w/fx4 package about 2 wks ago. When I purchased my truck I was told it had the max tow package and other features. Now I am wondering what my towing capacity is on my truck. I haul a decent sized camper that I was guaranteed I would haul, but now I question if I can legally or safely. Also my window sticker only says "tow package" and not "max tow package." I asked does "tow package" mean "max tow package" and I was told yes. Some info on my truck:
Tire and loading Information(yellow/white sticker): 1663lbs
GVWR:7000lbs
FrontGAWR:3450
rear GAWR: 3800
3.55 electronic lock rr axle
145" wheelbase
3.5 ecoboost
4x4
wheels are 20"
Looking at page 3 of below link shows that I can haul 10,700lbs with a gcwr of 16200. When I was expecting to be atleast 12,900 with gcwr of 18200.

I went back to the dealer Monday to ask the same questions and again I was told I had the max tow package. But the more I check myself and look at it I feel they are wrong.
I bought the max tow package for the upgraded suspension and I thought tires. I was wrong about the tires as they are 4 ply and I would have to replace them. There is $1k in spending. Plus I would need different shocks or air ride. Thats another $500 to $1k.
Now I am upset because I feel I was lied too. I wanted others feedback on what my tow rating should be along with my gcwr. I know I screwed up and should have done more research, but the dealer had all the specs of what I was pulling and they never said this truck wouldn't pull it safely/legally. Sad part is I would have bought a more expensive f250 if the dealer would have said the f150 wouldn't work. I have taken the trailer on one trip and didnt have any issues. I went the f150 route to save on gas too....
Here is the trailer info:
25ft(I know heavy for the size)
gvwr:8800
unloaded:6400
tongue 8800x10%=880 or 8800x12%=1056 these calculations are tongue weight. Usually tongue weight is 10%-15%. 12% is what most people use without going to a scale and getting accurate information.
More math
1663 lbs (how much weight on truck) -1056lbs (tongue weight)=607lbs that can be in the truck when pulling the trailer. That does not include the drive + passengers
8800(trailer weight) +7000(truck weight)=15800LBS
I believe gcwr to be 16200 which does not leave much room(400lbs) These numbers is what is required to register the camper in my state.
Now I can say this was all foreign to me 2 months ago, but now I could teach a class on it (not really but I have been learning a lot). If anything I learned some life lessons, but wanted some opinions on my next steps. Truck has about around 1200 miles. Took it to another dealer just to see how much of a bath I would take and I puked in my mouth. I am planning on visiting the GM of the company and see what can be done. Not happy at the moment. Thanks for any advice in advance, and sorry for any grammar errors. I hate writing lol.

Look thru some of the older threads, especially the ones labeled Max Tow vs XXXX, there are some good explanations of what is/is not included in the various tow packages. Then compare your window sticker and the options listed to those responses in the threads. It will take some time and effort Some dealers don't check the "max tow" option but order a truck(s) with the factory brake controller, 36gal tank, trailer tow pkg, etc as separate items and they will be listed on the window sticker. I was able to determine I have a "max tow package", but the window sticker does not say max tow. But I have all of the components on the truck from the factory.

It either says "Max Tow" on the window sticker or you do NOT have the package. Look at the sticker.
There are components in Max Tow that you can not see. Max tow includes, among many other things, an upgraded steering rack, bumper supports, and a different hitch.
You can also tell by the hitch. If the chain connections are pitched forward, you have max tow. If pitched rearward, you do not have max tow. Report back with your findings and we can look up the actual tow rating.

To add to this, a Max Tow must have 20" wheels and, if it's a crew cab short bed, will also include an upgraded frame.

My wheels are 20" and it I have the short bed(5.5ft).
I still have my window sticker. I been using that as a reference. I been in twice this week now for this issue. When i was in earlier this week i was told i still jad the max tow package.
I went to the dealer this evening and my salesman was off tonight. I explained the situation and they said to come back tomorrow and we could work out the situation. Wish me luck!
