Max tow is only available with the 3.5 Eco and makes the most sense from a cost-savings standpoint. For the cost of just the regular tow package and the 36 gallon tank option, you are at the price of the max tow package. Then you get the 3.5 rear locker and and trailer brake controller essentially for free.

The frame is not different on Max tow, only HDPP offers a thicker frame.

Ok, so as shown, retrofitting the hitch from the max tow package is an easy retrofit. However, doesn't this mean the GCVWR shown on the sticker on the door frame would be different on trucks that come from the factory with the max tow than those that don't?

I also believe the Max Tow comes with heavier rear differential / axle if am not mistaken.

Yes to both cmc and rddakota. The GCWR is higher for Max Tow-equipped trucks, which also come with the upgraded 9.75" rear axle. Said axle is also standard with the 3.5-liter EB, which for 2017+ is required (99G IIRC) with the Max Tow Package (53C).
