Default Towing

Purchased a 2016 F150 XLT Supercab Longbox for work. 3.5L Turbo with Max Tow Package. Will I be ok pulling an aluminum 18ft trailer with JD 3720 tractor and a few implements most likely daily? I’m estimating total weight will be approx 8000lbs including the trailer.

The larger compact tractors are still lightweights. Your JD 3720 weighs around 2900 lbs. bare. You should be fine towing an aluminum trailer and that tractor--even with some implements.

I do have the cab tractor (3570lbs) with front end loader I believe that’s another like 850lbs. Soil pulverizer in back (725lbs). Then box Scraper and pallet forks as extras (about 300lbs each).

I think you’re fine. Especially if your trailer has brakes.

Piggybacking...Maybe a dumb question - but new to towing anything larger than a car.

Similar situation! Getting a tractor in the next few weeks and would prefer to tow it home.

Are you using a WDH with this setup?? Honestly confused on WHERE and WHEN some people use these vs a solid hitch (GenY etc)

Travel trailer I get - but for something like this...any advice would be great!

I haven’t ever used a WDH when pulling this type of setup, just standard hitch. Never had a problem. I’ve also had a larger truck than the F150 in the past.

Don’t know how heavy your tractor is, but if you have a WDH I’m sure it would only help.

Thanks for the responses - Around 4400 for the tractor - 10kGVWR trailer / box blade / bucket / tiller.

And glad to see even here a few mixed responses! I see a few larger trucks without them when towing Skid Steers etc but recognize I only have the 150

Was looking at the Weigh Safe System / Gen Y Systems.

Appreciate the help!
