Default Towing

Looking to Lease. Towing 4000# travel trailer. I see a lot of 2.7 and 3.5 v-6 in dealer inventory. Do these motors do a good job? Currently have an '03 4.6 v-8 with 230K on her. It tows, but she's working. Thanks

At 4K either of those engines will out tow the 4.3. Just make sure you get a higher rear end gearing.

At 4,000 your issue isn't the ability to tow but rather the ability to stop. You want to make sure your truck has a seven pin connector and trailer brake control. Assuming you don't want to start modding a lease truck.

Towing a 4000# trailer always turns into a 6000# trailer and gear in truck. Pay attention to payload. If indeed 4000# loaded, either engine. I do like my 3.5, maxtow, especially like the 36g gas tank.

Either of those engines will tow circles around your 4.6.

2.7L, 4,500# trailer fully loaded. I've had it on a scale. No problem whatsoever. Doesn't even get hot climbing the mountain passes.
