Default Tow Test

I've had my 2.7l, 4x4 for 8 months now and I want to check out the trailer system in eventual anticipation of a trailer purchase.

A friend has a travel trailer that approximates the size and weight I expect to buy. But I have never towed anything more than a couple hundred pound utility trailer.

He has a weight distributing setup anf I have trailer towing package (not "max towing" but I have the receiver, connectors, installed electronic trailer brake).

I've read what the manual says and think I know what to do to adjust the hitch, hook up, assign the trailer, etc. We're going to take it out this weekend. We're specifically going to drive some 6% grades so I can see what it will do.

I'd appreciate any hints anyone wants to share. In particular, I remember reading something on this forum about something that needs to be manually reset afterwards (in the "towing" display?) but I can't find it.

The owner will be with me to talk me through, but I'd like to hear from other sources.
