Default Touch-up paint recommendations?

Chips and scratches. Yep, they happen to everyone eventually. For those of you who have already had to deal with them, what brands of paint would you recommend? OEM or aftermarket? I don't need a gallon can, either. Probably just an ounce or two to cover the stone chips on the outside of my tailgate and the scratches on my driver's door threshold. Oh, and what type of dispenser did you get? The little bottle (with the built-in brush) that dries up in a year or the rattle can that clogs it nozzle after the 3rd use? Any relevant opinions welcome.

Not happy with my 1st world problems....

I would recommend the oem touch up paint from the dealer for best results. A tube is only around $10 and has the best chance of matching.

Go to an auto paint supplier and ask for a 1/2 pint of single stage paint in a metal can. Use the back of a torn paper match for a brush. I always get a budget paint like Omni. A half pint usually costs me less than 10 bucks.

if you buy from autotouchup I would recommend their paint pen - since it has a small diameter felt tip applicator. which works better than a brush on deep chips.

fine scratches I like a brush that has been thinned of bristles. or again the paint pen.
Depending on where you live you can also find an auto paint supplier for the local auto body joints in your area. they will be able to get you the exact production paint. Often Akzo Nobel (sikkens), PPG, or Sherwin Williams. And yes everyone uses some of everyone at some point. I know ford has used SW and PPG as well as others.

to that end get the real paint not the stuff in the tube from the dealer - Depending on your color that paint won't always sit as well and has been reformulated for touch application. I don't like it.

The stuff from autotouchup is decent as well - I wouldn't use their stuff to paint an entire panel bare but it's not bad.

Finally I also use this.

Just called AutoTouch and the pen is 12.95 plus 5.95 for the clear coat pen. Shipping starts at 3.95 and goes up depending on location.

automotivetouchup.com doesn't seem to have any magnetic metallic (J7) paint, and Langka only goes as recent as 2015. Anyone got a recommendation for touch-up paint for a 2017?

I should mention I never bought paint from langka - I only use their chip repair system. the chemicals and process -after filling in the paint hole.

I've bought paint from automotivetouchup and I've bought from a local autobody supplier. In fact if all else fails go to an independent body shop and ask them how they would get some.

I've had very good luck with these guys with previous GM and Nissan vehicles.

If the dealership is willing to sell you touch up paint, that would probably be my 1st choice.

I get an OEM pen for every vehicle I have. I dig that it includes clearcoat....a must for dark colors. I made the mistake of buying generic in the past and it didn't match. If you just make sure everything is clean before putting the caps back on the pens will last 5 years. I get the OEM part number and order on amazon.
