Default Tires?

Has anyone on here gone from the Goodyear duratrac to the bfg ko2? What are your thoughts pros and cons?

There are more than a few that have.... I would assume they feel like this has been answered more than a few times before so they don't bother.

The KO2's are a huge upgrade. The GY's are generally considered inferior. Quite frankly they are. All pro's, no cons.

Hope that helps some.

The duratrac isn't a bad tire. They do wear way faster than the BFG. I prefer the K02.

Ditto. BFG All-Terrains are the best tire I've ever owned. Swapped mine out at 300 miles. Negligible noise difference. You won't be sorry.

Most definitely. I have ran several a/t's and m/t's. I really like BFG's a/t's. Drove them on the highway for quite a while and never had issues. Long life , quiet and they wore well. Not surprising though, you get what you pay for.

Tirerack lists the 2nd best on/off-road all terrain tire as the Kumho road venture AT51. Its like 40-50% cheaper, anybody used that for comparison's sake?

While I haven't used the K02's, I must say I'm very pleased with my Duratracs. 20,000km on them and the treads still look new. Minimal road noise - only if the radio is off and I'm really listening for it will I hear them. As soon as radio is on or someone is talking you don't hear them anymore. Fantastic in snow and mud too. If, when it's time to change them (and given how well they're wearing that might be at 80+k), then I may consider the K02 if the price is somewhat similar, just to try them out. If the Duratracs are considerably cheaper then I won't hesitate to get them again. (Just checked tirerack.com and they're the same price, currently. Also looks like the Duratracs are lighter by 7 pounds each and initially have a deeper tread when new)

Forgot to add - I was torn between these two tires when I was shopping last year, and at the time I was working for an Alberta oil company who had several hundred trucks (1/2, 3/4 and 1 tons) driving over rough terrain 24/7 through several different sites, and every single one of their trucks had Duratracs on them. That was what sold me.
