Default Tire size

I need help. Not sure where to find my answer. I have a 2018 FX4 off-road, 4 wheel drive. Factory height, no lift or levelers. Tires are the original 265/70r17 Wranglers. 35,000 miles on them. I’m hearing what sounds like tire roar. But if I role down the windows, I can’t hear it outside the truck. I thought it was a spindle bearing or something. Dealer says tires.
So I’m going to replace the tires. I want to go up a size or 2 to fill the wheel well up some. But not to the point of scrubbing. Anyone know what I can go up to snd not rub? Or where I can go to find the informational?
Thanks Everyone for any help.

Tripp

With out a lift or level, any tire with a 33" diameter on stock wheels would work well. I usually use Discount Tire website, pickout the tire I want, and look at the sizes available. Then look at the tire specs, there's tons of tires out there that are 33". Don't have to be right on the nose, can be a bit +/-.

I'd suggest a 2nd opinion before you go spend $1000 on tires that the dealership said is the problem.
You'll be surprised how often a thread says "dealer thinks it's my tires", they say that when the tires are brand new, or aged.

Before you buy, do your homework with a 2nd opinion. The sound you describe is not unlike 1 thread per week that is not usually tires.

If you want tires, that's fine, but please don't go buy them because the service department told you your tires are making a hum.

I did talk to someone else and they said the Wranglers are bad about making noise. . Im not sold being that you can hear it as soon as I start rolling down the road. And there is no difference in the sound from one type surface to the next. Concrete to black op to rough black top. Just gets louder with speed.
One thing for sure. I won't be putting Goodyear Wranglers back on it. Looking at the Michelin Defender LTX M/S in the 285/70r17

Thanks for the input.

Which Wranglers do you have, and what Wranglers was "someone else" talking about? Saying just Wrangler, is like just saying Firestone/Toyo/Nitto etc. Really doesn't tell you anything.

Just want to add look at the load rating vs what you will need. Yeah it's a truck but many never use the full potential and buy tires over rated for their use. Larger tire are good but to a point. Size and weight can take a toll in ride quality, fuel mileage, the pocketbook on purchase. There is usually a size point where only heavy rated tires can be found. KM

Well. I finally got the Beast in for new tires. Went with the 285 70r/17 in the Michelin LTX. Wow ! The difference in the ride ! And the noise that I thought was wheel bearing but repeatedly told it was the tires. guess what… it was a wheel bearing. Picked up the truck after the tires were put on. Didn’t go a quarter mile and turned around. Back to the shop and discussed options. Their options. Lol. So one of the techs road up the road with me. It’s fixed now.
