My 2017 f150 2.7l ecoboost came with a 3.15 rear end and its perfect for what I am doing (towing a jetski and highway driving) it is the stx so it also came with the 20” wheels and 275/55, my question is, would it hurt my rear end if I put 33s on it?

thanks

You are talking about going up 1.09" in height. Which is going to make your rear end gear perform like a 3.05. To correct it back to 3.15, you would need to re-gear to 3.26.

As far as hurting the rear end, in my opinion, you will be fine. But you are going to lose some power and gas mileage.

+1 on shadow's response.

No damage. Also, you'll lose power on a dyno for sure....but, as far as driving - you'll likely not notice a difference after a week or two.

You're going to upgrade the engine on your 2017? That's a pretty drastic mod.
