Default Tinted Tail lights

Whats yall thoughts on tinting tail lights? If you have them done how do you like it and can you please post pics? Im goig to say im on the fence on whether or not i want them done on my truck. Ive seen some vehicles it looks good but majority of the vehicles ive seen kinda look like crap and makes the vehicle look cheap. idk i need help deciding to do or not to do.

Don't do it. Besides looking cheap, as you said, it also reduces the function of your tail lights. If you get rear-ended, you could easily be ticketed as at-fault because of improper vehicle equipment. Just last night I was high beam flashing a GMC truck that I thought didn't have his lights on. Turns out he had tinted lights, which pretty much meant he didn't have lights on.

P.S. Also, 1991 called, they want their tail light tint back.

IMO, there's a difference between smoking them just a touch, especially so the housings better match a darker truck (like what Ford has done on the Lariat Special Edition headlights), and tinting the crap out of them or installing tinted covers. I don't mind a light tint - where you can't even really tell there's been anything done when the lights are on. But, as mentioned above, severely tinting them is stupid.

I love it when other people tint their taillights. When they stop in front of me and I can't see their lights, it gives me an instant out of the ticket when I hit them.

Don't be so sure. I had an employee rear end a guy that had tinted taillights a few years back and I questioned the investigating officer about it on scene about the legality of the tint and he shined his flashlight at the taillights and since he could see the reflection of the reflector inside the light, he said they were ok. My employee received the ticket and blame for the accident. Laws might be different where you're at though, just speaking from my experience.

I was being sarcastic. In my scenario I would still get a ticket for following too closely.

There's a bunch of guys that have tinted their tails. Hard to find all the threads. There's a bunch in the Build Thread. Here's one.

I think tinted taillights can be fine as long as you don't go too dark on the tint. I previously tinted the taillights on my Mustang, but they were still plenty visible even during the day. I see some of these people that put what looks like limo tint on their taillights and that's just dumb.

Tinting tail lights is stupid. In general folks are terrible drivers and anything that you do to reduce visibility increases the odds of someone hitting your expensive truck.

So you think that cops know the law? *hahaha*.... the only laws they know are the ones convenient for writing fundraising tickets. Go to court.
